No electricity: A World Without Spark
Considering that right now I am writing something on a LAPTOP based on a prompt given to me over a SOCIAL NETWORK as a post on my BLOG on the INTERNET, sitting in a room illuminated by a TUBELIGHT in a home which is on the seventh floor and reached by a LIFT, I already have quite a few obstacles to imagining the total absence of electricity and my imagination can only bring forth infinite more of such highlights. If there was a blue floating balloon over everything that runs on electricity in my life, blue balloons would be my life’s logo. I am sure it is same for the most of us reading this, considering that this is an online blog which is only publicised on a social network.
I know most of you are imagining a Flinstones like world, but trust me it’s not that easy. Making this list was not easy, it required a lot of thought to be put into it to make sure that it contains the things that REALLY matter to me. So I would request all of you to please take it very seriously and not seek humor in it.
I have placed most things under 10 broad list items. That is because, well, the number 10 has a way with the lists. Aaaaaaand guess what? It’s my version 😛
1. NO SELFIES (Yesssss!!!!! F*** YOU SMARTPHONES!! A trend free world – No Duckfaces, No twerking or anacondas.. Finally we can nip these things in the bud! You get the drift)
2. Face Recognition by Real People with Retina Display Picture quality (Yes this means exactly what you think it means)
3. No Electric Guitars (*weeping uncontrollably* I feel you “AC-DC”.. and Sting)
4. India becomes the most powerful country in the world (Face it guys, we were doing shit without electricity even before someone discovered gravity. Read: Ayurveda, Mathematics, Astronomy, Irrigation you name it)
5. No video games (*takes a selfie-headshot*)
6. No Skype (*Weeps even more* But finally.. we would be writing letters.. the way it was always meant to be)
7. You eat what you get, when you get it (No refrigerators. Uh-oh! No more stale pizzas and leftovers for you Tommy)
8. Everybody will be at optimum health due to mental obligation to be so.(Read: No Elevators, No escalators, No gym which you can join when you are 40)
9. We would live every moment to its fullest.. enjoying each and every emotion, sight, sound on our own.. As there will be nothing to record it for us.
10. I would be going door to door, sliding copies of my handwritten work underneath people’s doors. Hence by that time you would know me, I would be a lot, lot older. Thank you electricity!!!!!!
Those of you who would argue that there would be no vehicles, I disagree on two aspects. One, I am not considering it that narrowly because then , the electrical synapses within our brain would be disqualified as well. Two, even without electrical brouhaha available now, I have faith on human ingenuity to find a way to build a car.
Before I end this, I ask you to give it a thought. How would your world be without electricity? Think about it in candlelight.
